Every love story is unique, and ours has been filled with laughter, adventure, and moments we’ll never forget. Here’s a little look into the journey that brought us to “I do.”
first date
Magnus sent Sharne a message on Instagram and asked her out for a coffee date. They already knew each other from high school. They went to Papa G’s at the Lifestyle Centre in Ballito for coffee and a plate of chips (shy as can be) before Sharne returned to Potchefstroom for her studies.
first video call
Their first video call lasted for a total of 6 hours, en toe was dit tickets...
First Visit
Magnus flies down to visit Sharne in Potchefstroom. A few weeks after kicking off their long-distance love story, Magnus decides to visit her. They went out to get Roman’s pizza, a box of Fifth Street Rosé wine, and watched American Assassin.
Officially Official
Magnus asks Sharne to be his girlfriend on the morning of her flight back to Potchefstroom. His words were, “I can’t wait any longer, please will you be my girlfriend?” And she gave her first tearful “Yes!”
The Reunion
Reunion — After Sharne finished her studies in Potchefstroom, she moved back to Ballito. Magnus and his family spent her 21st birthday with her and her loved ones.
First Christmas
First Christmas together — Sharne and Magnus spent time with their families. And what would the holidays be without a Sun Coast weekend with Magnus’s parents? 😉

First couples photoshoot - A golden sunset and leaves rustling in the wind. A couple walked past Sharne, Magnus & the photographer, and said 'Congratulations on your engagement!' To which Sharne replied, 'Haha thank you, but we're not engaged'. In Magnus’s head, he added, “Yet”.
Phone, Wallet… Keys!!
They move in together — Sharne and Magnus move into their own little 1-bedroom apartment in Ballito. Sharne and Magnus made a great team and Sharne became his coffee machine 🙂
1 Year and Counting…
1 Year Anniversary — Magnus and Sharne celebrated their anniversary by venturing to the South Coast of KZN and staying at San Lameer for the weekend. This picture shows the rare occasion Sharne let Magnus drive the golf cart 🙂
Second Christmas
Second Christmas together — Sharne and Magnus drive down to Potchefstroom for Christmas to surprise her grandma and grandpa with the help of Sharne’s aunt.
They Become Parents!
Magnus and Sharne adopt two 4-week-old rescue kittens. Blade is named after his stripes and extroverted personality. Coda is named after the little bear in the movie Brother Bear because he is their little companion.
First Cape Town Trip
Magnus and Sharne fly to Cape Town to visit Sharne’s parents and to watch the Netball World Cup. “Should we move here?” The answer was “Yes!”
First Series
Finished watching The Vampire Diaries together for the first time. This is their favorite series! And yes, they cried like babies!
First New Adventure
Magnus gets a position as a Digital Designer at his dream company and they are off to Cape Town!
Second Anniversary
Second year anniversary — Sharne and Magnus booked in for an overnight stay in Colesburg on their way down and spent the day observing the beautiful wildlife and lodge.
First World Cup
Rugby World Cup! No words needed!
We were on the right kant! 😀
Engaged!
The day everything changed for them. Magnus proposed to Sharne on Signal Hill overlooking the beautiful city of Cape Town around 6pm at sunset. Only good things to come! We can’t wait to celebrate our special day with all of you! <3
